The Experimental School of Foreign Languages (ESFL) is a public school jointly founded by East China Normal University (ECNU) and the government of Putuo District, hosting students across nine school years. ESFL strives towards excellence by integrating advanced educational ideas across the world, and by keeping a close collaboration with ECNU. Benefiting from ECNU’s teaching and educational research achievements and its wealthy pool of teaching resources, ESFL endeavors to build itself towards a first-rate foreign language school featured by advanced educational philosophy, abundant educational resources, and a climate for innovation. 

Since its establishment, ECNU School of Foreign Languages has worked unremittingly with ESFL to help develop insights into teaching techniques and education as a whole. Currently, ESFL is a teaching and research center for ECNU, and also a Chinese cultural experience center for international students. Since 2016, ESFL has been designated as one of the exchange schools for the China-UK Math Teacher Exchange Program. From 2017 onwards, ESFL has established a long-term friendly relation of cooperation with Consulate General of France in Shanghai. It’s also worth mentioning that in 2018, ESFL has officially started to cooperate with the Institute of Brain and Education Innovation, ECNU on the Child Brain Development Program, a significant nation-wide program.
